Network Engineer - Baggage Handling Systems
BEUMER Group · Singapore
Job description
About the role
BEUMER Group Singapore, part of the BEUMER Group which builds high-tech intralogistic systems, is hiring a Network Engineer for its Baggage Handling System (BHS) network. The role keeps the BHS network available, secure and separate from airport IT so that live baggage flow is never disrupted. It is a site-based position reporting to the CIT Manager, with travel between sites at short notice.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor the BHS network (core/access switches, redundant rings, firewalls, links to HLC servers and PLCs) for degradation or failure and respond to network alarms
- Log, handle and close incidents and service requests, escalating them according to the escalation matrix
- Support site O&M during peak operations and incidents, including on shift, standby or after-hours
- Diagnose connectivity between HLC, PLCs, SCADA workstations and airport interfaces using CLI, logs, packet captures (Wireshark) and NMAP
- Perform root cause analysis with vendors, the Hotline and service providers, and record fixes and lessons learned
- Execute only authorised changes under formal change management and customer approval, planning work in low-traffic windows and backing up configurations
- Maintain segregation between the BHS and airport IT (firewall rules, VLANs, access control) and close client VAPT findings
- Support hardware rollout, migration, expansion work, SIT/UAT, cut-over planning and commissioning
- Maintain network diagrams, IP/VLAN plans, asset inventory, patch-panel records and the knowledge base, and prepare stakeholder reports
- Explore automation, scripting and AI-assisted tools for monitoring and configuration checks
Required profile
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network or Computer Engineering or a related field
- Junior level (2-3 years) in network support or administration on live operational systems; fresh graduates with relevant internship or project experience may be considered
- Able to obtain an Airport Pass and work airside, and able to work shifts, standby or after-hours
Required skills
- TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching
- Exposure to Wireshark, NMAP, packet captures, monitoring tools, logs and CLI
- Advantages: industrial networks (PROFINET), firewalls, CCNA, 24/7 or critical operations experience, ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 27001 exposure, VAPT, CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+/Security+
