Network Engineer (IT Services)

About the role

A client of Recruitment Alliance is looking for a Network Engineer to keep the company's IT systems running smoothly and safely, with no disruption. The role is based in the CBD, is permanent and full time, five days a week. The engineer ensures everyone stays connected, work systems remain reliable and company data is protected from hackers.

Key responsibilities

• Set up routers, switches, firewalls and servers and make sure they operate efficiently.
• Work hands-on with network cables, Wi-Fi access points and modems.
• Work hands-on with Windows Server or Linux and network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG and Nagios.
• Configure network devices using control software.
• Use security software including VPN, antivirus and intrusion detection.

Required profile

• Minimum diploma in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in IT networking (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi).
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience with routers, switches and firewalls.

Required skills

• Hands-on configuration of routers, switches and firewalls.
• Windows Server or Linux.
• Network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).
• Security software (VPN, antivirus, intrusion detection).
• Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is an added advantage.
