NPI Materials Project Management

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring for an NPI Materials Project Management position in Singapore. The role covers forecasting, sourcing, supplier coordination and materials planning for new products, working closely with engineering and production teams.

Key responsibilities

• Forecast and communicate engineering, materials and manufacturing requirements to suppliers, and provide input to outsourcing decisions through make versus buy analysis.
• Coordinate demand signals through MRP to minimize inventory exposure.
• Form the Materials Core Team and coordinate product development deliverables through matrix management of buyers, planners and production control.
• Collaborate with engineering to interpret engineering requirements, and under supervision create, release and update the new project materials strategy.
• Assist in supplier price and delivery negotiations and, under direct supervision, negotiate contracts; use the preferred supplier selection and assessment process and complete supplier risk assessments for critical and unique parts.
• Monitor supplier performance on delivery, quality and cost, and coordinate source selection, specification creation and price negotiation.
• Execute the commercialization (transition) materials plan, manage the materials change control process, meet cost objectives and resolve quality issues.
• Generate and publish Key Process Indicators, track total landed cost targets, and work with engineering on preliminary critical parts, long-lead parts and inspection requirements.
• Help develop supplier and commodity roadmaps, use value analysis on build-to-print components for Should Cost analysis, and mediate supplier quality issues with quality and engineering teams, escalating to Commodity Business Managers when needed.

Required profile

• Conceptual and practical expertise in the own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
• Knowledge of best practices and how the area integrates with others, awareness of the competition and market differentiators.
• Able to act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and lead small projects with manageable risks.
• Able to solve complex problems, exercise judgment across multiple sources of information, and explain difficult or sensitive information while building consensus.

The role is full time, with travel of about 10% of the time; relocation is not eligible.
