NPI Supplier Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring an NPI Supplier Engineer in Singapore. The role works with New Product Development and New Product Introduction teams to manage suppliers, from early specification reviews through supplier selection, audits and quality resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Work with New Product Development teams to ensure engineering drawing requirements are clear and expectations are communicated to suppliers.
• Take part in New Product Introduction teams so suppliers are involved in specification development and design for manufacturability.
• Stay involved in the supplier selection process to build a supply base strong in quality, cost, delivery and technology.
• Carry out supplier technical audits, evaluate supplier performance and capability, and drive continuous improvement.
• Handle quality problem resolutions and incidents, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Evaluate technical requirements of new and existing products and recommend materials to Design Engineering to save costs, shorten lead times and reduce risk.
• Assist cost planning by monitoring key cost drivers and supply markets.
• Sourcing new technologies from qualified suppliers to support product development and improvement.

Required profile

• Conceptual and practical expertise in your own discipline, with basic knowledge of related disciplines.
• Experience in the semiconductor capital equipment industry and with suppliers of build-to-print components and contract-manufactured assemblies and modules.
• Ability to work with product development engineers (mechanical, electrical) to find the best-fit supply chain and DFM improvements.
• Preferably experience with machined parts, sheet metal, cable/harness and electromechanical assembly.
• Knowledge of best practices and how your area fits with others, awareness of the competition.
• Able to act as a resource for colleagues, lead small low-risk projects, solve complex problems and present NPI project and supplier engagement updates to management.
