Staff Nurse, Blood Resources (Bloodbank)

About the role

The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Health that secures the nation's blood supply for public and private hospitals. It is recruiting a Staff Nurse for its Blood Resources Division, which runs the Blood Bank team. This is a front-facing role performing essential blood collection duties in a close-knit team.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the blood collection team(s) to supervise the Whole Blood and Apheresis collection programmes
• Whole Blood: collect blood in its complete form, not separated into components
• Apheresis: run the automated process that separates plasma, platelets or red cells and returns the remaining components to the donor
• Provide blood donation nursing care and perform donor phlebotomy
• Assist in managing blood donor complications within standard operating procedures to ensure the safety of the national blood supply

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma with relevant work experience as a registered nurse in a recognised healthcare setting
• Valid Nursing registration certificate with the Singapore Nursing Board
• Candidates with the requisite qualification but no work experience may also apply
• Candidates with an Advanced Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Nursing with a clinical component, or another post-registration healthcare diploma, may be considered for senior nursing positions
