Operations Executive – Global Oil Cargo & Shipping

About the role

The Operations Executive will manage end‑to‑end cargo and shipping activities for an international oil trading house. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role ensures safe, reliable and efficient execution of vessel operations across global waterborne trade.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate cargo nominations, vessel scheduling and voyage planning.
• Prepare and manage shipping documentation, bunkering arrangements and operational records.
• Monitor and mitigate operational and contractual risks, including demurrage and claims handling.
• Support Letters of Credit processes and ensure timely settlement of financial transactions.
• Identify optimisation opportunities across the value chain and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
• Provide after‑hours support when required to sustain continuous trading operations.

Required profile

• Degree in Maritime Studies or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in cargo or shipping operations within an oil major or trading house.
• Strong understanding of charter parties, Incoterms, trade documentation and shipping processes.
• Familiarity with operational risk management, demurrage handling and Letters of Credit.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
