Operations Manager (2nd or 3rd Shift)

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring an Operations Manager in Singapore. The role supervises staff involved in production and operation functions such as assembly, inspection, test and final test, linked to the manufacturing of capital equipment and systems, electronic, mechanical and electromechanical components, subassemblies and subsystems. The position is full-time and requires willingness to work either the second or third shift.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise employees in production and operation functions related to the manufacture of capital equipment and systems.
• Prioritize production schedules based on manpower, equipment efficiency, capacity and material requirements.
• Take part in operational meetings, track performance metrics, schedule milestone meetings and improve cycle time and other metrics.
• Ensure timely responses to operations issues affecting customer satisfaction, act as an interface for customer and vendor requirements, and initiate corrective actions on quality costs.
• Oversee accident prevention, ensure all employees (including temporary ones) receive environmental, health and safety training, and enforce safety policies.
• Develop personnel through training and career development, manage performance management, goals, hiring, rewards and discipline.
• Support production capacity optimization, monitor manufacturing processes and data collection, and drive Lean, safety and quality improvements.

Required profile

• Formal supervisory responsibilities, setting priorities and coaching employees to meet daily deadlines.
• Ability to solve day-to-day technical and operational problems and to handle sensitive issues tactfully.
• Willingness to stand for long periods, walk, work in tight spaces, lift, and work in a noisy environment; clean-room PPE such as coveralls, hoods, boots, safety glasses, gloves, respirators and face shields may be required.
• Understanding of Applied Materials' global Standards of Business Conduct and compliance with them.
