Part‑time Software Developer – AI Literacy Simulations

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) seeks a part‑time software developer to create PhET‑style web simulations that promote AI literacy for teacher education. The project runs until 30 November 2026 and aims to deliver interactive, customizable simulations and avatar‑based instructional videos on core AI topics.

Key responsibilities

• Gather functional requirements from domain experts and translate them into simulation designs.
• Rapidly prototype UI/UX mock‑ups using agile methods.
• Develop, test, and iteratively refine web‑based simulations based on expert feedback and usability testing.
• Implement data‑logging features to capture user interactions.
• Create facilitation guides for educators and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with NIE’s IT teams to host simulations securely and ensure integration with existing platforms.
• Manage project milestones and ensure timely delivery.

Required profile

• At least a Polytechnic Diploma.
• Demonstrated full‑stack development and debugging experience.
• Solid understanding of fundamental machine‑learning and AI concepts.
• Knowledge of computer graphics and interface design.
• Proficiency in coding with generative AI tools.
• Creative, good communicator, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
