Principal Engineer, Design Enablement (Silicon Photonics)

About the role

GlobalFoundries, a full-service semiconductor foundry, is hiring a Principal Engineer for its Design Enablement team in Singapore. The role covers PDK device design and research projects management, with integrated opto-electronic circuit design, fabrication and characterization. You will work with a multidisciplinary team from photonics and fabrication.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimize silicon photonic devices, including passive and active devices such as balanced and high-speed photodetectors, for application-oriented PDK development.
• Carry out device characterization independently to verify device performance and conduct device analysis with documentation.
• Provide technical support on PDK-related questionnaires.
• File patents on silicon photonic devices to protect intellectual property.
• Perform other duties as assigned, depending on project progress and company goals.
• Work safely and responsibly, supporting Environmental, Health, Safety and Security requirements.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in photonics, electrical engineering, physics or a related field.
• Practical knowledge of optical science and/or photonics technology.
• Passionate, creative, with strong oral and written communication skills.
• Able to think strategically to complete experimental projects, multi-task and prioritize.
• Team player who takes ownership of work.
