Principal Engineer (Integration Yield Defect)

About the role

The Principal Engineer (Integration Yield Defect) leads the Yield Defect Detection (YDD) team, supervising associate engineers and wafer technology operators to ensure continuous 24/7 inline shift operations. The role focuses on defect analysis, recipe development, and driving yield improvements across semiconductor manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise YDD Associate Engineers and wafer tech operators for smooth 24/7 inline shift operation.
• Train and certify DO Associate Engineers on recipe creation and defect source knowledge.
• Maintain and enhance internal SOP/CAS, and support internal and external audits.
• Operate FIB, SEM, and EDX equipment for inline failure analysis.
• Create and manage recipes in Brightfield, Darkfield, and other YDD tools.
• Perform partition analysis on defect sources and generate detailed reports.
• Build and maintain a defect source library and fingerprinting tools.
• Track inline defect performance weekly by layer, process, tool, and chamber.
• Conduct killer ratio analysis and defect characterization.
• Lead continuous improvement activities with modules, vendors, and equipment teams to reduce defects.
• Liaise with process engineers to troubleshoot and reduce inline defects.
• Provide scan support in low‑yield investigations and collaborate on yield enhancement projects.
• Automate daily activities to accelerate troubleshooting.
• Authority to stop shipment or production to address quality problems.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Chemical, or Microelectronics Engineering.
• 5–8 years of experience in high‑volume semiconductor manufacturing.
• Hands‑on experience in defect analysis and yield enhancement.
• Strong analytical abilities and capability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• FIB, SEM, and EDX operation.
• Recipe creation and management in Brightfield, Darkfield, and YDD tools.
• Proficiency with MS PowerPoint, Excel, Excel VBA, and PowerBI.
