Principal Engineer, Process Engineering (Etch)

About the role

GlobalFoundries is expanding its Fab Operations and is looking for engineers to support growth in Process Engineering. As Principal Engineer, you will manage process qualification, stability and continuous improvement programs to deliver organizational goals, with opportunities to collaborate with other regions to drive process excellence according to GF standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support the company's production ramp schedule through process qualification, productivity improvement and new tool release.
• Establish SOPs (standard operating procedures), CAS and FMEA for related processes.
• Optimize and maintain processes using SPC (statistical process control) and DOE (design of experiments).
• Work with other regions on BKM (best known method) alignment and process improvement initiatives.
• Maintain process stability and drive continuous improvement projects, including process CIPs to improve performance indices.
• Work with cross-functional teams to deliver organizational goals and lead a small team to deliver departmental goals.
• Conduct internal process training for Associate Engineers and Senior Associate Engineers.

Required profile

• Degree or Master's in Engineering, in Electrical/Electronics/Chemical/Microelectronics, Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience in process engineering, preferably in the semiconductor industry.
• Proven ability to identify, assess and solve problems.
• Prior experience in a foundry or similar industry is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Strong SPC knowledge.
• Experience in a high-volume production environment.
• Knowledge of process engineering software and MES (manufacturing execution systems).
• Analytical and mathematical skills, strong written and verbal communication, and ability to work in a diverse environment.
