Principal Engineer, Process Engineering (Unit Module Development)

About the role

GlobalFoundries is looking for a Principal Engineer in process engineering, focused on unit module development. As a key technical leader, you will develop and optimize semiconductor fabrication processes, drive continuous improvement, solve complex non-recurring technical challenges and mentor a team of engineers. The role combines hands-on technical expertise, a strategic mindset and strong communication skills.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and modify process formulations, methods and controls to meet quality standards, and create, analyze and review technical data and charts.
• Establish and maintain SOPs and FMEA for related processes, and integrate equipment and material capabilities to meet process module specifications.
• Lead recipe creation, maintenance and optimization for inspection tools (e.g. Brightfield, Darkfield and SEM) to shorten inspection time and improve recipe quality.
• Drive Continuous Improvement Plans (CIPs) and lead cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
• Act as a technical subject matter expert, guiding and training junior engineers, and benchmark with vendors and internal teams.
• Solve complex, novel technical problems, proactively change existing processes and contribute to patents as an inventor.
• Contribute to conference or journal publications and comply with environmental, health, safety and security requirements.

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics or Microelectronics Engineering.
• 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in the wafer fabrication industry.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, and good analytical and project management skills.
• Organized and systematic problem solver.

Required skills

• Familiarity with SPC, DOE and FMEA.
• Mastery of one technical discipline with recognition as a senior team member.
