Principal Pharmacist, Inpatient

About the role

The new Tengah General and Community Hospital is building a state‑of‑the‑art inpatient pharmacy service. As Principal Pharmacist, Inpatient you will lead the pharmacy team, ensure safe medication delivery, and shape operational processes for a cutting‑edge hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee accurate processing of medication orders, including verification, preparation and supply.
• Manage discharge medication workflows to minimise delays and improve patient satisfaction.
• Design, implement and review pharmacy workflows to boost efficiency and reduce errors.
• Develop and manage staff rosters, monitor workload distribution and adjust staffing as needed.
• Mentor and supervise pharmacy staff, ensuring adherence to best‑practice workflows.
• Coordinate operational training for new hires and ongoing development for all pharmacists.
• Collaborate with nursing teams to optimise medication administration processes.
• Lead medication‑safety initiatives and resolve medication‑related complaints promptly.
• Maintain adequate stock levels in inpatient areas and oversee the use of automated dispensing cabinets (ADC) and other pharmacy information systems.
• Investigate medication incidents, implement corrective actions and conduct regular team meetings.

Required profile

• Degree in Pharmacy with professional registration.
• Team‑player with a positive attitude and strong critical‑thinking abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in data collection and organisation.

Required skills

• Experience with automated dispensing cabinets (ADC).
• Proficiency in inpatient pharmacy information systems.
• Medication order verification and stock management expertise.
