Principal Security Engineer - Financial Services

About the role

A well-established financial services organisation, operating in a large-scale, technology-driven environment focused on security, resilience and regulatory compliance, is looking for an experienced Principal Security Engineer. This is a senior hands-on engineering position covering the design, implementation, optimisation and lifecycle management of enterprise security technologies across on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead security solution deployments and manage remediation and platform upgrades
• Support critical incident response and conduct implementation testing
• Work closely with vendors and internal stakeholders and give technical guidance to other engineers
• Focus on vulnerability management with Nessus Professional and endpoint protection with Trellix, alongside SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, DLP, PAM, IAM, WAF and IDS/IPS

Required profile

• At least 10 years of hands-on security engineering experience in complex enterprise environments
• Strong practical expertise in vulnerability management and in operating cybersecurity platforms
• Experience leading security technology implementations from proof of concept through to production rollout, troubleshooting complex issues and supporting security incidents, audits, risk and regulatory requirements
• Relevant security and cloud certifications are advantageous

Required skills

• Nessus Professional and Trellix
• Cloud security, preferably AWS, with networking, system hardening, Unix/Linux and scripting knowledge
• EDR/XDR, SIEM, SOAR, DLP, PAM, IAM, WAF and IDS/IPS
