Principal/Staff Engineer, FE OCT Materials Cost

About the role

Micron Technology is hiring a Principal/Staff Engineer for its Operations Central Team (OCT) Materials Cost position at Fab 10A. As the OCT MTE Materials Cash Cost Leader, you will drive material cost reduction for Front End manufacturing and lead Value Engineering, alternate sourcing, consumption optimization and materials strategy to deliver year-on-year Cost per Gigabit improvement. The role combines technical expertise and strategic leadership, working closely with Cost teams, Global Procurement, CPEE, Technology Development, Fab teams and suppliers on chemicals, film and gas, photo and CMP materials.

Key responsibilities

• Define and guide short- and long-term materials cost strategies aligned with manufacturing priorities and business goals
• Lead initiatives across functions to identify, prioritize and deliver cost reduction opportunities with measurable results
• Provide technical leadership on material expenditures and guide priorities and decisions across sites
• Structure and lead programs, including prioritization, breakthroughs, tracking and risk management, and develop cases and execution plans
• Identify technical and operational challenges early and maintain governance and review cadences
• Partner with sites, engineering and procurement teams to turn ideas into implemented solutions and realized savings
• Act as a subject matter resource, mentoring collaborators and senior leaders, and share validated practices across sites
• Influence engineering, procurement, manufacturing and suppliers using data-driven insights, and support analytics, automation and digital tools
• Communicate priorities, progress, risks and decisions clearly to leadership and collaborators

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field, with 10+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, materials or cost optimization
• Strong understanding of Front End processes and materials, with a proven track record leading complex, multi-functional initiatives
• Experience in governance, analytics or automation is welcome
• Able to prioritize demanding work and deliver results in a fast-paced, global environment
• Willingness to travel as needed
