Process Engineer - Semiconductor Manufacturing

About the role

Applied Materials is looking for a Process Engineer to design, optimize and qualify semiconductor manufacturing processes for display and semiconductor technologies. The role sits at the intersection of process technology, equipment engineering, data analytics and customer engagement, working with R&D teams on advanced research and development projects. The position is based in Bangalore, India.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, optimize and qualify semiconductor processes including deposition, etch, epitaxy (EPI) and PVD, and transfer them to new tool platforms
• Partner with equipment engineering teams to define hardware requirements and risk-based qualification plans
• Design and run Design of Experiments (DOE) and use statistical tools such as JMP and Minitab to analyze process data
• Conduct process research, characterization and evaluation, and define process specifications and operating limits
• Act as the main process engineering interface for new product development and support product releases and technology transfers
• Work with customers on roadmaps, demonstrations, benchmarking and escalations, and lead root-cause analysis
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure availability of materials and components, and drive continuous improvement in yield and productivity

Required profile

• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering or a related field
• Minimum 2+ years of relevant industry, research or semiconductor process engineering experience
• Experience in semiconductor capital equipment, process development, manufacturing or customer-facing technical roles is preferred
• Knowledge of semiconductor process integration and manufacturing environments
• Ability to work across cross-functional and global teams, with strong communication and presentation skills
• Domestic and international travel of about 10-20% may be required; relocation is eligible
