Production Control and Planning

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring for a Production Control and Planning position in Singapore. Employees may specialise in planning activities covering production control, inventory control, process control or shop floor control / Material Resources Planning (MRP) integrity. The role is full time, with travel of about 10% of the time.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the Oracle work order release schedule so materials arrive on time for manufacturing and engineering, reschedule and complete no-charge discrete jobs, and increase component availability through pre-shortage analysis.
• Perform work order variance analysis, review MRP execution, reconcile supply and demand, validate master scheduling and PDS requirements, and ensure proper disposition of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
• Prepare status reports of ECOs and ECRs, run regular system maintenance and audits, and take part in floor audits with Finance to resolve WIP issues.
• Attend production meetings, update make-level lead times to match the floor, and work with engineers on materials for special engineering projects and with work centers on shop floor control.
• Analyse usage data and stock levels to order parts, maintain planned inventory levels, expedite shortages, forecast spare parts needs, examine material variances, and assist in setting up or modifying inventory systems.
• Manage obsolete inventories, help identify root causes and corrective actions from PCI reporting and metrics, and drive cycle counting.

Required profile

• Ability to stand for long periods, walk, work in tight spaces, bend, squat, twist, kneel, reach and lift, and distinguish colours.
• Ability to work in a noisy environment and, because the role may involve a clean room, wearing personal protective equipment such as coveralls, hoods, boots, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons and face shields.
• Expanded conceptual knowledge in the own discipline, understanding of key business drivers, and problem-solving in straightforward situations.
• No supervisory responsibilities, though informal guidance is given to new team members.
