Production Team Lead, Operations

About the role

West Pharmaceutical Services is hiring a Production Team Lead in Jurong, reporting to the department lead. The role is responsible for producing product that meets or exceeds specifications, covering manufacture, inspection, packaging, labelling and the documentation needed for quality, production and traceability records under Quality Systems and Environmental Management Systems. The team lead leads by example on shift, guides team members and deputises for the Shift Lead when absent.

Key responsibilities

• Manage production flow and output, tracking products through each stage, labelling and inventory management using Kanbans, automated MES and PLC-based systems, to keep equipment running and hit targets
• Operate production equipment such as washers, autoclaves, mixers, weighers, drop mills, calendars, winders, rotocure and slitters (about 4 stations)
• Train and mentor new and existing operators, and prepare, set up and clean machines
• Follow PPE and gowning standards, clean-room cleaning schedules and housekeeping policies, and support continuous improvement with Lean principles
• Gather, record and label samples, maintain equipment, assist with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting, and take part in root cause analysis (FMEA, A3/A4) and change control
• Support deviation management, draft DATs, help with batch card corrections and work with QA to improve right-first-time yields
• Take part in projects assigned by the Area Manager or Shift Lead, and write or revise operational procedures and training materials
• Comply with cGMP, local environmental, health and safety regulations, Quality Systems and the corporate Code of Conduct

Required profile

• High school diploma preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience in bio-pharmaceutical, pharmaceutical or medical device industries, or another GMP setting
• Able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and process specifications
• Willing to work in a controlled cleanroom environment with gown, cap and PPE
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb occasionally and 20 lb frequently

Required skills

• Knowledge of cGMP requirements is an advantage
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and job-related computer applications
• Support for Lean Sigma programs
