Project Engineer - Smart Operations

About the role

Evonik Methionine SEA Pte. Ltd. is looking for a Project Engineer for its Smart Operations function, supporting the company's vision of becoming a cost leader in the amino acid commodity market through digital tools and technology. The role combines process engineering and technical applications of Smart Operations with knowledge of plant requirements, and works closely with the global Smart Operations group.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the implementation and reliable operation of digital technologies that optimise and improve the efficiency and sustainability of production processes on site.
• Provide process and application expertise, combining process engineering and Smart Operations experience with plant knowledge.
• Initiate and execute studies, projects and new developments, anticipating and solving problems with a focus on long-term technical solutions.
• Monitor Smart Operations applications with dashboards and visualisation tools, taking corrective action on deviations, and support training, maintenance and continuous improvement.
• Work closely with production, R&D, applied technology and site management: define project scope, prepare schedules, cost estimates and business cases, pilot and evaluate new technologies.
• Manage projects and technical changes, support Management of Change (MOC) and revise process documentation such as PFDs and P&IDs.
• If based in the Methionine plant, ensure all FAMI QS requirements are met in the area of responsibility.
• Share information and build relationships with other AN sites and the global Smart Operations group.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical or Automation Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical production or chemical project engineering.
• Good understanding of chemical processes and equipment; Methionine and intermediates preferred.
• Ability to manage internal and external project team members.
• Experience in project engineering and execution in a related industry preferred.
• Organisational skills to plan and schedule, and ability to conduct data analysis independently.
• Cost awareness and basic understanding of accounting principles.
• Ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation and to apply safe systems of work independently.

Required skills

• Aptitude for computer programs and engineering tools; familiarity with advanced digital tools (ML, APC) preferred.
