R&D Chemist

About the role

Sika (Singapore) Pte Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sika AG, manufactures and supplies specialty construction chemicals. The R&D Chemist applies technical knowledge to develop new or improved products that meet market needs and provides technical support to Quality Control, Production and Sales teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide monthly updates on product development projects
• Maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM) in the ERP system and record any changes
• Coordinate with inter-company R&D and technical departments on intercompany products
• Evaluate raw material alternatives and product performance, including in-house laboratory test reports
• Investigate product performance issues raised by the technical service team
• Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 audits
• Assist sales with technical knowledge and attend site complaints with the technical service team to find root causes
• Keep the laboratory clean and tidy, and carry out other ad-hoc product development tasks assigned by the R&D manager

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field
• At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the construction chemicals industry
• Candidates without work experience are also welcomed
• Fluency in English; additional languages are beneficial
