Research Assistant – Advanced Ceramics (Materials Science)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Research Assistant to join our Materials Science/Engineering team at NTU. The role focuses on advanced ceramics, developing novel shaping and sintering techniques for oxide and carbide materials, and linking processing parameters to material performance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ceramic green bodies and explore sintering processes to optimise grain size and density.
• Conduct comprehensive material analyses, including density measurement, microstructure examination, and mechanical/thermal property testing.
• Draft technical reports and manuscripts for publication in academic journals.
• Maintain specialised sintering equipment and coordinate procurement with external suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor degree with second upper honours in Materials Science and Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in advanced ceramics synthesis and characterisation.
• Familiarity with emerging shaping and sintering techniques is preferred.
• Strong academic writing skills for proposals, reports and journal articles.
