Research Assistant – AI‑Enabled Renewable Energy Systems

About the role

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Research Assistant to support AI‑enabled renewable energy research, focusing on offshore wind farm simulation and control.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research on offshore wind farm simulation and AI‑based control methods.
• Develop and implement reinforcement learning and machine learning algorithms for renewable energy applications.
• Build and maintain simulation and digital twin platforms for renewable energy systems.
• Create software tools and computational frameworks for intelligent control and optimisation.
• Perform data analysis, numerical experiments, and model validation.
• Support research activities within Assistant Professor Dawei Qiu’s group.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
• Entry‑level candidates with strong technical potential are welcome.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Familiarity with machine‑learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Software development experience.
• Knowledge of reinforcement learning, simulation or data analysis (advantageous).
