Research Assistant – Child Developmental Psychology

About the role

The Early Mental Potential & Wellbeing Research Centre (EMPOWER) at NTU seeks a Research Assistant to support interdisciplinary projects on early childhood development. You will work closely with Professor Victoria Leong and a multidisciplinary team to advance both basic and translational research.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit participants, collect and manage data from infant‑parent interactions.
• Design, develop, and validate novel cognitive tasks for early development studies.
• Code video and audio recordings for behavioural analysis of social synchrony.
• Assist graduate and undergraduate research students with project tasks.
• Support the PI with administrative duties and project coordination.
• Set up and execute experimental protocols while ensuring compliance with university guidelines.
• Develop relationships with clinicians and other professionals to inform project goals.
• Plan and run focus‑group sessions with parents, clinicians, and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Sciences or a related technical field.
• Experience collecting human psychological data, especially with infants and families.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including sensitivity when interacting with parents.
• Ability to work under tight timelines and manage multiple project milestones.
