Research Assistant – Experimental Physics (Quantum Technologies)

About the role

The Centre for Quantum Technologies at Nanyang Technological University seeks a motivated Research Assistant to join a project on quantum simulation with ultracold gases. You will work on a tweezer network exploiting super‑oscillatory phenomena, contributing to cutting‑edge experimental quantum research.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain ultracold atom experimental systems.
• Collect, analyse, and document experimental data.
• Perform laboratory testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of optics, vacuum and electronic equipment.
• Assist with simulation, modelling and optimisation of experimental protocols.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations and research documentation.
• Support team coordination and ensure compliance with safety and research protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Quantum Science, Photonics or a related discipline.
• Strong motivation for research with solid analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for scientific reporting.
