About the role
The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at Nanyang Technological University is seeking a motivated Research Assistant or Associate to join Assistant Professor Lynn Yap’s laboratory. The team focuses on regenerative cardiology and metabolic disorders, aiming to translate stem‑cell based therapies into treatments for ischemic heart disease.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory experiments using pluripotent stem cells and cardiovascular progenitor cells.
- Perform in‑vivo studies in rodent and pig models of myocardial infarction.
- Analyse engraftment, survival, and electrophysiological outcomes of transplanted cells.
- Investigate molecular mechanisms of cardiac regeneration and host immune responses.
- Document experimental procedures, generate data reports, and contribute to scientific publications.
Required profile
- Graduate degree (MSc or PhD) in biomedical sciences, regenerative medicine, or a related field.
- Strong interest in cardiometabolic research and translational science.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Required skills
- Experience with stem cell culture and differentiation.
- Familiarity with pluripotent stem cells and cardiovascular progenitor cells.
- Hands‑on experience with small‑animal (rodent) and large‑animal (pig) models.
- Competence in data collection, analysis, and scientific writing.
