Research Assistant/Associate in Molecular and Cellular Biology

About the role

The Nguyen Lab at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) is seeking a motivated Research Assistant/Associate to support cutting‑edge projects on autophagy and mitophagy in disease. You will work in a collaborative environment, performing experiments, analysing data and helping to develop new model systems.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and develop cellular models, including mammalian cell culture, stem‑cell derived models and organoids.
• Independently perform molecular and cellular biology techniques such as DNA cloning, western blotting, co‑immunoprecipitation and gene perturbation (CRISPR‑based methods, viral transduction).
• Conduct imaging‑based experiments, including immunofluorescence and related microscopy assays.
• Analyse experimental data and contribute to troubleshooting and optimisation of protocols.
• Assist in the design and implementation of new experimental approaches and model systems.

Required profile

• Strong interest in cellular quality‑control mechanisms, aging, neurodegeneration or cancer research.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent organisational and data‑analysis skills.
• Relevant academic background (e.g., BSc/MSc in molecular biology, cell biology or related field).
