Research Associate – Diffusion Models & State‑Space Inference

About the role

The College of Computing and Data Science at Nanyang Technological University seeks a motivated Research Associate to advance cutting‑edge work on diffusion models and state‑space inference. The role involves literature review, method development, and dissemination of findings through top‑tier journals and conferences.

Key responsibilities

• Read, understand, and summarise the latest literature on diffusion models, especially for sampling from un‑normalized probability distributions.
• Read, understand, and summarise recent work on inference in state‑space models using particle filters.
• Design, implement, and analyse new inference methods that combine diffusion models with state‑space techniques.
• Publish research outcomes in reputable international journals and conferences.
• Present results and build research networks at international conferences.
• Participate in internal events such as reading groups and seminars.

Required profile

• Preferably a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Independent, highly analytical, proactive and able to work effectively in a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct innovative research and design experimental plans.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
