About the role
The Energy Research Institute at NTU is seeking a Research Associate to support a tidal energy project. The role involves hands‑on development of drivetrain systems, control algorithms, and electrical machine health monitoring, bridging laboratory prototypes and field deployments.
Key responsibilities
- Design and develop power system facilities and equipment for tidal turbine electric drive trains.
- Perform detailed analysis of electric utility infrastructure for distributed generation, smart grid, and micro‑grid integration.
- Create electrical schematics, layout, assembly, testing and troubleshooting of prototypes and field systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to build and validate lab‑scale and real‑world prototypes.
Required profile
- Fundamental understanding of power systems and power electronic converters (AC/DC).
- Experience with computer control systems and PLC programming.
- Knowledge of modelling, design, and closed‑loop speed/position control of electrical drives.
- Ability to develop and test electrical machine designs and health‑monitoring solutions.
