Research Associate – Large Vision Language Models

About the role

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University is seeking a Research Associate to support the development of adversarial‑robust large vision‑language models within the ROSE Lab. The role involves conducting cutting‑edge research, running deep‑learning experiments, and contributing to scholarly publications.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate adversarial attack and defence mechanisms for Large Vision Language Models (LVLMs).
• Design and execute deep‑learning experiments to benchmark, evaluate and optimise model performance against adversarial threats.
• Maintain the research code repository, ensuring clean architecture, open‑source documentation and reproducibility.
• Prepare comprehensive research reports, technical manuscripts and academic papers for funding reviews and workshops.
• Assist in drafting proposals for new research grants in the relevant domains.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Signal Processing, Machine Learning or a related discipline.
• Research experience in deep learning, natural language processing, large language models or large vision‑language models, with emphasis on benchmarking and optimisation.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English, with a record of research publications considered an advantage.
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and guide student assistants.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• PyTorch deep‑learning framework.
• C/C++ programming.
• Familiarity with LLM frameworks and building automated pipelines (advantage).
