Research Engineer – Functional Aquaculture Feed

About the role

The Singapore Institute of Technology is establishing a new Research Centre in Animal Feed focused on aquaculture and animal feed. The Research Engineer will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient execution of feed research and production activities, supporting both R&D and service projects.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the feed mill, planning production runs for research, pilot, training and service activities.
• Oversee formulation, extrusion, drying, coating and quality control processes.
• Establish and uphold operational standards, safety, quality, risk and regulatory compliance.
• Support commissioning, validation and optimisation of upgraded equipment.
• Conduct routine laboratory analyses such as proximate analysis and basic quality checks.
• Provide hands‑on leadership, mentoring and training to technical staff.
• Collaborate with the Centre Director on production planning, resource allocation and external stakeholder engagement.

Required profile

• Degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Aquaculture, Chemical/Process Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant competence in feed production, processing or a related technical field.
• Experience in feed milling, extrusion processing or laboratory analysis is advantageous.
• Strong hands‑on problem‑solving and team‑leadership abilities.
