Research Engineer / Research Fellow (AI Agent)

About the role

The Singapore Institute of Technology seeks a Research Engineer / Research Fellow to design, develop, and deploy an advanced content moderation framework for immersive 3D virtual environments such as Roblox and Minecraft. You will work within the Centre for Immersification alongside faculty, engineers, and industry partners.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the research project with the PI, Co‑PI and team to meet all deliverables.
• Design and develop a robust, scalable software system for autonomous agents navigating immersive 3D environments.
• Integrate AI agents into gameplay, interactions, procedural content generation and dynamic narratives.
• Leverage fine‑tuned Vision‑Language Models for zero‑shot reasoning and scene‑graph inference.
• Ensure deployment readiness by benchmarking inference speed, compute efficiency and scalability.
• Maintain high software‑engineering standards through testing, version control, documentation and CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Software Engineering or related field.
• Strong programming proficiency in Python and/or C++.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Hands‑on experience with game AI agents or GUI agents (e.g., Mineflayer, Unity ML‑Agents).
• Solid knowledge of computer‑vision techniques, transformer architectures and multimodal learning.
• Familiarity with reinforcement learning, curriculum learning and real‑time system challenges.
• Working knowledge of distributed systems and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
