Research Engineer – XR Applications

About the role

The Singapore Institute of Technology is seeking a Research Engineer to join its Centre for Digital Enablement. You will work on an industry‑focused innovation project developing multi‑user AR/VR software platforms for education, collaboration and workplace training.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Principal Investigator, Co‑PI and research team to deliver all project milestones.
• Develop an interactive metaverse application for online education and real‑time simulation using JavaScript (babylon.js, A‑Frame) and Unity or Unreal Engine.
• Optionally design and lead user studies, analyse data and publish findings in international conferences or journals.
• Perform testing, risk assessments and ensure compliance with work, safety and health regulations.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with the full software development life‑cycle and database management systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.

Required skills

• Strong JavaScript programming for 3D/VR (e.g., babylon.js, A‑Frame).
• Development of XR applications in Unity and/or Unreal Engine.
• Experience building optimized modules for AR/VR teaching, learning or training.
