Research Engineer – Sustainable Built Environment Solutions

About the role

The Research Engineer will support applied research and innovation in sustainability, focusing on the Built Environment sector. Working with internal teams and industry partners, you will translate scientific concepts into scalable solutions that address climate change mitigation and resource efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Perform sustainability assessments and develop green‑transition roadmaps for organisations.
• Design and execute proof‑of‑concept projects, including microclimate studies, building energy efficiency, and resource‑use optimisation.
• Collaborate with industry partners to scope problems, gather technical inputs, and contribute to solution development.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation; support grant proposals and track project progress.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years or Master’s degree with 2+ years experience in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
• Strong knowledge of passive building strategies, ACMV systems and control.
• Hands‑on experience with experimental studies such as urban microclimate and thermal comfort.
• Understanding of sustainability concepts like LCA, carbon footprinting and resource efficiency.
