Research Fellow – 2D Material Nanophotonics

About the role

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Research Fellow to advance low‑dimensional nanophotonics, focusing on near‑field, nonlinear and quantum optical properties of emerging 2D materials.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research on low‑dimensional material nanophotonics and develop theoretical models.
• Perform numerical simulations, design photonic nanostructures, and carry out related characterisation and measurements.
• Set up and maintain optical experimental systems for device and material testing.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to joint research projects.
• Execute quantum optics and nonlinear optics experiments.
• Support the Principal Investigator in laboratory operations and research group management.

Required profile

• PhD in Optical/Device Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field with emphasis on low‑dimensional nanophotonics.
• Strong publication record in relevant areas.
• Experience with MATLAB, MEEP, RCWA and related simulation tools.
• Good understanding of nonlinear and quantum optics.
• Solid knowledge of optical physics; experimental experience preferred.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and project‑management abilities.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to scientific rigor.
