Research Fellow – Behavioural Research & Community Archetype Analysis

About the role

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Nanyang Technological University is seeking a Research Fellow to lead behavioural risk‑perception research and community archetype analysis for the NParks Marine Climate Change Science Coastal Protection project. The role supports Singapore’s coastal adaptation strategy by integrating social science insights with geospatial modelling.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Module A: design and conduct baseline behavioural studies on risk perception, risk tolerance, and adaptation readiness.
• Lead Module B: identify and map community archetypes using latent‑class analysis.
• Coordinate integration of archetype outputs across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Co‑author the Risk Perception and Adaptation Readiness Report.
• Contribute to conference presentations and top‑tier journal publications.

Required profile

• PhD in Communication Studies, Psychology, Behavioural Science, Sociology, Public Policy or a related field.
• Experience in survey/instrument design, behavioural experiments, and large‑scale data collection.
• Proven track record of academic writing and publication.
• Ability to coordinate cross‑functional research teams.

Required skills

• Latent‑class analysis (LCA) and multinomial logistic regression.
• Structural equation modelling (SEM) and factor analysis.
• Statistical software: R, Stata, SPSS, Mplus.
• Qualitative analysis using NVivo.
