Research Fellow – Direct Ammonia Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

About the role

The Energy Research Institute at NTU is seeking a Research Fellow to lead a joint project with Imperial College Global Singapore. The focus is on overcoming technical challenges of using ammonia as a fuel in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) to achieve high performance and long‑term durability.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews on SOFC technologies and ammonia feedstock preparation methods.
• Synthesize, fabricate, and test SOFC prototypes using ammonia.
• Perform material characterization of cell components.
• Investigate fundamental mechanisms and reaction pathways within the cells.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and conference papers.
• Support additional tasks as directed by the principal investigator.

Required profile

• PhD in Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Strong publication record in solid oxide fuel cell research.
• Experience in fabricating SOFC stacks is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and meet research milestones.
• Proficiency in English for academic communication.
