Research Fellow – Elastomer Chemistry

About the role

The School of Materials Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University seeks a highly motivated Research Fellow to advance elastomer chemistry and related composite technologies. You will work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment, contributing to cutting‑edge projects at the interface of materials science, advanced manufacturing, and physical chemistry.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent research on elastomer synthesis and composite preparation.
• Develop and implement elastomer adhesives.
• Optimize formulations for 3D and 2D printing applications.
• Support ongoing ionic liquid formation projects.
• Design, prototype, and scale up processing methods.
• Collaborate with faculty, industry partners, and fellow researchers on interdisciplinary initiatives.
• Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences.
• Mentor and guide graduate and undergraduate students.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science or a related field.
• Strong background in elastomer formulation and synthesis.
• Experience with adhesive applications and characterization.
• Proficiency in handling and applying ionic liquids.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with machine‑learning techniques in engineering is a plus.
