Research Fellow (Inorganic Chemist)

About the role

The School of Materials Science and Engineering at NTU seeks a highly skilled Research Fellow to lead cutting‑edge projects on next‑generation solar harvesting materials. You will develop and optimise synthesis routes for inorganic nanoparticles and quantum dots aimed at photovoltaic and solar‑fuel applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute advanced synthesis techniques such as hot‑injection, colloidal, solvothermal, hydrothermal and sol‑gel methods.
• Systematically tune optical, electronic and structural properties of materials for solar cells and photoelectrochemical systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate new photo‑absorbers into optoelectronic devices.
• Perform detailed material characterisation using XRD, SEM, TEM, UV‑Vis, EQE and PL.
• Supervise and mentor junior researchers and graduate students.
• Document research progress and contribute to scientific publications.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry, materials science or a closely related field with 4–5 years of relevant research experience.
• Proven expertise in synthesis of inorganic nanoparticles or quantum dots, especially chalcogenide and halide semiconductors.
• Strong track record of publications, patents or grants.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams.
