About the role

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University is looking for a Research Fellow to lead the development of a data‑driven Digital Twin for Li‑ion batteries. The role focuses on creating innovative control frameworks for wired and wireless EV charging, combining classical control with advanced machine learning to improve battery performance and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Design novel control system frameworks to optimise EV battery charging profiles, balancing speed and longevity.
• Develop data‑driven and AI‑based algorithms for thermal and health management of Li‑ion batteries in wireless charging environments.
• Conduct research on predictive maintenance strategies and advanced State‑of‑Health monitoring.
• Integrate Digital Twin technology into existing battery management architectures to enable real‑time adaptive control loops.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate research outcomes into practical applications.
• Prepare high‑impact manuscripts for journals and present findings at international conferences.

Required profile

• PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Expertise in developing control algorithms.
• Strong knowledge of Li‑ion battery modelling techniques.
• Research experience in predictive maintenance, battery thermal and health management.
• Proficiency in mathematical modelling, data analytics, and machine‑learning model development.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
