Research Fellow – Self‑Healing Cementitious Composites

About the role

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at NTU Singapore seeks a Research Fellow to advance a project on self‑healing ductile cementitious composites aimed at durable and resilient coastal protection infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and development of self‑healing ductile cementitious composites.
• Prepare concrete samples and perform mechanical testing.
• Carry out chemical synthesis and analysis of material formulations.
• Characterize microstructure using XRD, TGA, FTIR and SEM‑EDX techniques.
• Report progress against project milestones and publish findings.

Required profile

• PhD in Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Strong academic record with several peer‑reviewed publications.
• Excellent references from previous supervisors.

Required skills

• Chemical synthesis and analysis.
• Concrete sample preparation.
• Mechanical testing of cementitious materials.
• Microstructural characterization (XRD, TGA, FTIR, SEM‑EDX).
• Knowledge of carbon sequestration in cement‑based materials (preferred).
