Research Fellow – Silica Glass Additive Manufacturing

About the role

The Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) at NTU seeks a highly motivated Research Fellow to advance silica glass additive manufacturing. You will lead experiments to optimise processing parameters and evaluate optical and mechanical performance of 3D‑printed glass components.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments to optimise silica glass AM parameters.
• Fabricate and characterise 3D‑printed glass samples, assessing optical, structural and mechanical properties.
• Establish process‑structure‑property relationships to identify optimal material performance.
• Develop and validate functional glass prototypes.
• Support grant writing, project deliverables and interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Prepare technical reports, scientific publications and present findings at conferences.
• Mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Required profile

• PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of silica‑based glass systems and structure‑property relationships.
• Hands‑on experience with additive manufacturing and materials processing.
• Proven record of scientific publications and conference presentations.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
