Research Scientist – Embedded & Quantum Security

About the role

The Centre of Hardware Assurance (CHA) at NTU is seeking a Research Scientist to join its Physical Analysis & Cryptographic Engineering (PACE) team. The role focuses on securing embedded systems against classical and emerging quantum threats by integrating Post‑Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) into silicon and IoT devices.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate state‑of‑the‑art embedded microcontrollers and implementations of standardized cryptographic algorithms, including migration to quantum‑resistant standards.
• Develop and test non‑invasive and semi‑invasive hardware security methods, emphasizing PQC and QKD integration for embedded and IoT ecosystems.
• Design and execute experimental frameworks for device setup and testing, performing rigorous data analysis to assess hybrid quantum‑security architectures.
• Provide technical evaluations and recommendations to internal and external collaborators to improve the security posture of next‑generation silicon and hardware IP.
• Manage project deliverables through technical reports and documentation, ensuring compliance with internal standards.

Required profile

• Strong background in hardware security and cryptography.
• Familiarity with embedded microcontrollers, IoT devices, and silicon design.
• Experience with Post‑Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) concepts.
• Proven ability to design experiments, analyse data, and produce technical documentation.
