Resident Engineer – Building Projects

About the role

The Resident Engineer will lead the on‑site execution of building projects, ensuring that all construction activities meet project specifications, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. This role involves close coordination with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to deliver high‑quality, safe, and on‑time results.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret project specifications and construction drawings, verifying compliance with regulations and client requirements.
• Monitor site works to ensure strict adherence to method statements and work procedures.
• Supervise structural works, identifying and rectifying any non‑conformities.
• Ensure builders and technical supervisors execute work according to consultant instructions.
• Review drawings and shop drawings for discrepancies, propose solutions to avoid delays.
• Conduct quality inspections and control of materials used on the project.
• Maintain comprehensive site inspection, safety, and as‑built documentation.
• Update progress records, housekeeping logs, and prepare regular reports.
• Verify contractors’ progress payments, claims, and material/equipment deliveries.
• Witness inspection, testing, and commissioning activities to confirm compliance with designs.
• Report quality and progress status to the project QP and consultants.
• Supervise foundation, ERSS, and other design works.
• Coordinate with site supervisors on civil & structural, architectural, and M&E engineering works.
• Ensure compliance with BCA build‑ability criteria and MOM health & safety regulations.
• Participate in site, progress, variation, and coordination meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Resident Engineer Certificate accredited by IES/ACES (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge of statutory codes, BCA requirements, and MOM safety standards.
