Resident Physician - General Surgery / Neurosurgery

About the role

NTFGH, a member of the National University Health System (NUHS), is recruiting Resident Physicians (RP) for its division of neurosurgery, one of Singapore's leading tertiary neurosurgery units and a referral centre for the western region. The division offers open and minimally invasive neurological and spinal procedures for brain and spinal conditions. Successful candidates are offered a clear path of career and professional progression.

Key responsibilities

• Direct patient care in outpatient clinics and inpatient wards, including on-call duties
• Participate in elective and emergency operating sessions under supervision
• Take part in ward rounds, divisional teaching (journal clubs, resident teaching) and multidisciplinary meetings such as clinicopathological discussions and virtual meetings with international partners
• Teach practical skills and knowledge to medical students
• Collaborate with medical specialists and clinical researchers across the NUHS healthcare cluster, including the National University of Singapore
• Help coordinate, plan and organise the division to maintain team efficiency
• Prepare for specialty fellowship examinations; fellowships abroad are available through partnerships with institutions such as Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge, the Leeds Teaching Hospitals and University College London Hospitals

Required profile

• A basic medical degree from an accredited university or medical school registrable with the Singapore Medical Council
• Preferably a post-graduate diploma, such as MRCS, or its equivalent
