Resident Physician (Palliative)

About the role

The Resident Physician (Palliative) will join the Supportive and Palliative Care Service at National University Hospital, providing consultative care to patients with advanced, progressive illnesses. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the role involves inpatient and occasional outpatient responsibilities, as well as teaching and quality‑improvement activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Palliative Care Consultant in daily management of the inpatient consultative service.
• See patients in the outpatient clinic under supervision when required.
• Provide weekend and public‑holiday coverage according to the departmental roster.
• Participate in teaching and supervision of medical students and junior staff.
• Conduct clinical audits and lead quality‑improvement projects.
• Undertake any additional duties assigned by the Head of Department or Hospital Medical Board.

Required profile

• Postgraduate qualification in internal medicine (e.g., Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine), MRCP or equivalent).
• Registered or registrable with the Singapore Medical Council.
• Strong diagnostic and clinical management abilities.
• Motivated to work on a contractual basis and pursue further training in palliative medicine.
