Senior Assistant Director, Research

About the role

NTU is seeking a strategic leader to serve as Senior Assistant Director, Research within the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CoHASS). Working closely with the Dean, Associate Dean (Research) and Director (Operations), you will shape and deliver the College's research strategy, turning vision into programmes, structures and support systems. As the senior professional lead for research, you will oversee the College's research ecosystem, strengthen research impact and foster connections across Schools, Research Centres and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and enhance research support operations, providing high-quality, efficient systems for investigator-led and collaborative research.
• Support the development of research centres, major initiatives and competitive funding opportunities.
• Work with the Director (Operations) to align research strategy, operations and resource planning across the College.
• Provide data-informed insight on research performance and influence, supporting diverse scholarship and intellectual leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from a recognised university.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in research administration, especially grant sourcing and grant administration (pre-award and post-award) in an academic and/or research institution.
• At least 3 years of people management and leadership experience.

Required skills

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders across levels and cultures.
• Highly proficient in data analysis and reporting of grant information and research output, financial projection and budgeting.
• Able to handle confidential information sensitively.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office; knowledge of quantitative data analysis is a plus.
