Senior Backend Engineer – Location-Based Services

About the role

Join TikTok's LBS Platform team to design and operate a global, high‑performance location‑based services infrastructure that powers billions of users. You will build core geolocation microservices, fuse multiple signal sources, and enable real‑time data pipelines for TikTok local services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a fused geolocation system using IP, Wi‑Fi, GPS and other signals.
• Build Nearby & Location Profile services supporting TikTok local merchants.
• Participate in a real‑time streaming data scheduling system for high scalability.
• Design and implement online/offline data cleansing, microservice encapsulation, and algorithm model deployment.
• Create core geolocation microservices (storage, inference, fusion) to handle high QPS.
• Continuously analyze system deficiencies and improve performance and stability.
• Design and evaluate LLM‑powered workflows (prompt engineering, RAG, tool orchestration) to accelerate feature engineering.
• Collaborate with AI engineers to streamline module updates and release processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong experience building high‑concurrency, microservice‑based backend systems.
• Proficiency in at least one language such as Java, Golang, PHP, Python or C++ (Golang or Java preferred).
• Solid understanding of Linux, MySQL, NoSQL, RPC, message queues, caching and microservices architecture.
