Senior Data Scientist, SMAI

About the role

Micron is hiring a Senior Data Scientist for its Fab 10A site. You will use techniques from mathematics, statistics, semiconductor physics, materials science and information technology to find patterns in data and build predictive models and actionable insights. You will work with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Business Area Engineers and UX teams to define analysis questions and improve existing tools, and help develop software, algorithms and automated processes that cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and program methods, processes and systems to consolidate and analyse unstructured big data and turn it into insights for client services and product enhancement.
• Work with product and service teams to identify questions and issues for data analysis and experiments.
• Develop and code software, algorithms and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from many sources.
• Identify meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources, and interpret and communicate them to product, service and business managers.
• Explore new ideas and technologies to enable breakthrough solutions.
• Work with management, departments and global manufacturing sites to find optimization opportunities and improve production metrics.
• Drive global collaboration, alignment and benchmarking of optimization and simulation solutions in planning and operations.
• Use AI-assisted tools to improve efficiency, quality and effectiveness, and share AI-enabled improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research or equivalent, with strong programming and modelling capabilities.
• Past experience in the semiconductor industry, especially semiconductor operations digital twins.
• Experience in semiconductor or manufacturing operations simulation modelling using discrete event simulation.
• Experience in optimization modelling or Operations Research using mixed integer programming, linear programming, etc.
• 3+ years of experience in Java, Python, SQL, HTML, C/C++, CSS, with fast learning of programming languages.
• Structured, logical problem solving and clear communication.
• Ability to use AI-enabled tools responsibly and effectively.
