Senior Data Scientist - Smart Manufacturing & AI

About the role

Micron is hiring a Senior Data Scientist for its Smart Manufacturing & AI (SMAI) team. You will work with global planning, manufacturing and supply chain teams to turn ambiguous business challenges into scalable, production-ready solutions. The role spans the full solution lifecycle: problem framing, data understanding, modeling, software development, deployment, user adoption and value realization.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders from Micron's manufacturing, planning and supply chain departments to identify, analyse and solve complex business problems.
• Design, develop and deploy digital twin solutions using Operations Research, mathematical optimisation and Discrete Event Simulation.
• Build production-grade applications such as data pipelines, data cleaning, modelling engines, APIs and user interfaces.
• Turn large, diverse datasets into actionable insights, decision-support tools and scalable software.
• Drive deployment, adoption, benchmarking and continuous improvement of solutions across Micron's global manufacturing sites.
• Work with Data Scientists, Product Owners, AI Engineers and domain experts throughout the lifecycle.
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly and share AI-enabled improvements with colleagues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering or a related quantitative discipline.
• Hands-on experience in Operations Research, Discrete Event Simulation, mathematical optimisation and decision science.
• 3+ years of experience developing software applications with strong full-stack capabilities.
• Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, planning, semiconductor operations or similar industrial environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and independent work skills.

Required skills

• Programming in Python, SQL, Java, C/C++, C# or JavaScript, HTML/CSS.
• Knowledge of APIs, Git, CI/CD, cloud platforms, ETL/data pipelines and AI-assisted development tools.
