Senior Data Scientist (Supply Planning)

About the role

Grab's Supply Planning team uses AI to give driver partners data-driven instructions and incentives that optimise supply utilisation across different market conditions. As Senior Data Scientist, you turn driver-facing user and business problems into data science problems, derive insights from big data and build deep learning, reinforcement learning and optimisation models for supply repositioning, activation and incentivisation. The role reports to the Senior Data Science Manager and is based onsite at the Grab One North Singapore office.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business problems and requirements on driver repositioning, activation and incentivisation.
• Translate business problems into data science problems, formulate them and design potential solutions.
• Retrieve and analyse data for exploratory analysis, feasibility studies and solution prototyping.
• Develop and deploy scalable data science solutions and measure their impact through experiments.
• Build dashboards to monitor the health of data science systems and continuously maintain and improve the solutions.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Degree in computer science, computer engineering, statistics, data science, applied mathematics, economics, Operations Research or another related computational field.
• Good understanding of the software development lifecycle and engineering practices, with experience writing readable, maintainable and testable code, including unit and model testing.

Required skills

• Familiarity with ETL data pipelines supporting complex mathematical modelling and optimisation.
• Hands-on experience with the optimisation lifecycle, turning business problems into OR models using Linear Programming (LP), Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) or Non-Linear Programming (NLP).
• Experience designing and implementing custom heuristics or meta-heuristics such as genetic algorithms for large-scale optimisation.
